These probes have a monolithic probe head made of quartz glass SUPRASIL(r) 300. By using a total reflection prism, the light beam passes through the sample only once, as with a cuvette measurement. The stray light is minimised.

Fluorescence Immersion Probe The Hellma fluorescence immersion probe makes it possible to measure fluorescence outside of a fluorimeter, directly in the medium being investigated. To achieve the best possible separation between the excitation and fluorescence beams, the fluorescent light is captured at a right angle to the incoming beam. A stainless steel casing protects the quartz glass probe head from damage and reduces the amount of incoming ambient light. A built-in cylindrical concave mirror reflects transmitted light back into the centre of the sample chamber. Mini Immersion Probe This Hellma transmission probede has been developed for manual use in the laboratory. Thanks to the fact that it is fixed by means of a clamping ring (e. g. Swagelok(r)) the probe can be permanently installed for continuous process monitoring in a reactor, for example. Probe parts are made of stainless steel or Hastelloy(r), quartz and FFKM(r), so that the use of adhesives in contact with the sample has been avoided. Ultra-Mini Immersion Probes The type 661.602 probe is an ultra-mini immersion probe with SUPRASIL 300 quartz prism and corrosion-resistant titanium barrel. The collimated light beam passes the solution to be measured twice. The separate beam path and use of a deflecting prism with two totally reflective surfaces leads to very low values for stray light. The type 661.622 probe is an ultra-mini immersion probe with removable light path tips. The tips can be exchanged simply and easily to adjust the light path between 1 mm and 20 mm. Hellma Fibre Optic Probe-ATR Probe

ATR Probes ATR means “Attenuated Total Reflection”. Light passing from a material with high refractive index (ATR crystal) to a material with lower refractive index (solution) is normally totally reflected. However, in practise, the light partially enters the solution and can be absorbed. The reflected light is therefore attenuated, causing a measurable reduction in the output signal dependent upon the absorbance of the solution. ATR probes are suitable for situations involving the direct measurement of strongly absorbing solutions, where standard transmission probes cannot be used.
